Chandigarh: UT police was put on toes for hours on Wednesday morning after receiving two separate calls of suspects roaming on city roads with guns. However, later both the calls turned out to be a hoax.
It was around 9 am when a message was flashed by police control room regarding a Toyota Innova seen parked near press light point with some suspects in it. Police swung into action and rounded up the people sitting in Innova near transport crossing.
They were taken to the police station where during their interrogation it was learnt that suspects were officials of CISF. Police after establishing the antecedents of the suspects let them off.
DSP Central Ramgopal said, “The vehicle and people were verified and nothing suspicious was found. The vehicle belonged to officials of CISF. They were let off after their antecedents were verified.”
Similarly, at around same time another message was flashed by control room that two suspects are brandishing guns while driving Tata Indica car near transport traffic signal. While giving the information, Sector 26 station house officer Inspector Jaspal Singh said that police immediately swung into action and after brief chase rounded up the suspects. The suspects, in their early twenties were brought to Sector 26 police station where during their questioning police learnt that they are carrying toy guns.
Inspector Jaspal Singh said, “We have rounded up boys and during their questioning we learnt that they were carrying toy guns and have no criminal intentions. We have also ascertained their antecedents and after verifying the facts, they were released.
