Chandigarh: After the Chandigarh Police failed to produce any results in Sippy Sidhu murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have initiated a fresh investigation in the matter and have booked an unknown person under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to sources, the CBI sleuths will soon be calling the relatives and friends for recording statements and to join the probe. The CBI sleuths have also asked Chandigarh Police to hand over the documents along with the case file to the CBI so that they could pursue the investigation in the case.
A senior CBI official said that they had reproduced the contents of First Information Report (FIR) as to register a fresh FIR for proceeding the investigation in the matter. The official added that they had written FIR as per the initial FIR registered by the Chandigarh Police and they would add names after finding the roles in the case.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have registered a case against unknown person in the Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu, alias Sippy, murder case. The case was being investigated by the Chandigarh Police and was then transferred for further investigation to the CBI after recommendation of the UT Governor. The 32-year-old national shooter and Punjab and Haryana advocate Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu alias Sippy was found dead here at the park of Sector 27, Chandigarh on September 20.
Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu is the son of late I P S Sidhu, senior advocate of Punjab and Haryana High Court and grandson of S S Sidhu, former Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge, while Sippy himself was a corporate advocate and chairman at Sippy Sidhu Law Firm located at Sector 91, Mohali.
