Chandigarh: Two days after the nephew of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister was allegedly run over by a car to death, the Chandigarh Police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. The Police have also issued Look Out Circular (LOC ) to the airports.
The SIT is being supervised by SSP Chandigarh Police Eish Singhal with other policemen including DSP Central and Inspectors of UT Police.
A senior police official said that the case was being personally supervised by senior officers. DIG/UT and SSP/UT have personally visited the spot and inspecting/directing the investigation. In this regard, SIT had been constituted to conduct day- to-day basis investigation.
Number of raiding parties have been sent to different places to raid the suspected hideouts of the culprits. Chandigarh Police Forensic team has also inspected and collected all possible evidences from the scene of crime.
LOC has been issued to all the airports and a number of people have been joined the investigation. Police teams are working round the clock to nab the accused persons, said the police official.
DSP Central Ramgopal said any inclusive or exclusive information can be shared with the police regarding the case on phone numbers 9779580914, 9779580933 and 2740254.
The teams are conducting raids, however, no arrests have been made so far, said the DSP.
The nephew of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Akansh was allegedly run over by a BMW car here at Sector 9 to death on Friday in the wee hours.
The police have registered a case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code against Harmehtab Singh, a resident of Radewala Farm, Landra, Mohali and Balraj Singh Randhawa, resident of Akal Ashram Colony, Sector-77, Sohana, Mohali who are absconding.
The incident took place on the night intervening Wednesday and Thursday when the victim was run over by the accused who were in BMW car at Sector 9 following a spat.
The victim who received grievous head injuries was taken to PGI by his friends. He succumbed to injuries in PGI on Friday evening.
Crime spot revisited by police, measurements draft taken
Investigating the murder of Akansh who was run over by a luxury SUV car here at Sector 9, the Chandigarh Police on Saturday revisited the crime spot and prepared draft of the crime scene.
A team of draftsmen from Chandigarh Police, the local Station House Officer (SHO), Punam Dilawari, Sub Inspector Mohan Lal inspected the spot with other policemen.
The draftsmen prepared the draft of the crime scene and took measurements of the spot as how the incident took place.
Meanwhile, the police team has also been recording statements of friends of victim who were accompanying him on the night of incident.When the Daily Post team reached the residence where the victim and all his friends had a party on night of incident, it was found that the owner of the residence, Deep Sidhu who was accompanying the victim was also not present at his residence as he has been reportedly picked up by the Chandigarh Police for questioning in the matter.
