Chandigarh: Parambans Singh Bunty Romana presided over the meeting which declared SOI panel for PUCSC elections. Panel includes Manpreet Aulakh as President, Prabhjit Karmuwalia as Chairman, Gurpal Maan as Party President, Navi Khemkaran as Election Incharge, Karan Randhawa as Campus President, Bhavesh Ghakhar as Campus Incharge, Charanjit Singhas Party Incharge, Baninder Singh Dhillon as Convener.
Romana said, “Panel for the girls will also be declared in few days and further council contenders also. Like always we will give 50 per cent representation to girls in the panel for elections.”
They also tabled their report card of last session i.e. PUSCS 2015-16. In which 50 per cent of their promises have fallen flat and they are blaming authorities for that.
SOI last year had announced development projects worth Rs 10 crore including washing machines in all nine girls’ hostels, a world-class gym and solar power panels in hostels, shuttle bus service in the campus and replacement of old fans in all the teaching departments.
According to Romana, who presented copies of proofs of cheque received by authorities said, “We had handed over a cheque worth Rs 10 lakh to PU authorities to buy washing machines for girls a long time ago but cheque remained unused. However, there are solar panels on the roofs of most hostels which are functional and the gym is still under construction. “
“Funds for washing machines for girls, gymnasium and replacement of fans have been borne by Punjab government,” he added. However, none of the plans have been implemented so far, although SOI claims to have fulfilled all the proposals made in their manifesto.
Simranjit Singh Dhillon, chief spokesperson and general secretary of SOI, said, “Whatever we promised to the university, we have almost fulfilled it. We have made it historic because only our organisation has managed to do something for the campus.”
