Data with police shows that from past 4 years, 142 children still remain untraced
Chandigarh: On November 14, when an entire country celebrated Children’s Day, parents of untraced kids in city prayed before god for their safe come back.
Rohtash Kumar ( 42) a resident of Maloya Colony in Chandigarh, keeps his day busy in waiting for a call or message from unknown numbers, since the day his thirteen-year-old, son, Arman, went missing in July.
Arman who is the youngest son of Rohtash, left his house with a group of Kawarwala’s and never returned. Even today, the facade of Rotash’s flat has a life-size photo of Arman and a notice that anyone providing information about him will be offered price money.
In 2012, I lost my wife and the next year only I was diagnosed with brain tumor, since then Arman remained my strength. Every day, I believe that he will return back one day for sure. His room has been kept as he had left it and is cleaned regularly,” said an emotional father.
The pain is no less for Santram whose son Gautam has been missing since February this year. Santram narrates how they left no state, city or place in the hope of seeing Gautam again.
However, the families of these missing children believe that the apathy of law enforcement agencies is one of the main reasons why many children still remain untraced.
