Panchkula: Despite spending lakh of rupees on cleaning various places and property every year, Municipal Corporation (MC) has failed to shift a dump from the bank of drain (nullah)near link road to Chandigarh railway station. The situation is getting worst as garbage is thrown into drain from this dump on daily basis.
Dilapidated roads in Panchkula are causing immense inconvenience to commuters as due to incessant rains, roads leading to sectors 15 and 16, Buddanpur, New Labour Chowk, Rajiv Colony and Indira Colony in Panchkula from Zirakpur highway and few roads leading to Chandigarh have developed potholes.
“Almost all roads in Panchkula are in shambles, and the presence of potholes has made driving nearly impossible,” said Raman, a commuter. Further, due to inadequate number of streetlights, commuters find it difficult to see the potholes at night. However work related to re-carpeting of roads throughout the city is being carried out by MC from last two months and still the work is under process.
MC has failed to block all the points from where sewage and waste is not thrown illegally into drain nor has taken any step to shift this dump.
