Chandigarh: The Punjab government under the command of Captain Amarinder Singh has begun to curb the activities of sand mafia which were prevalent in the state. On
Wednesday night, 4 teams comprising of ADC (Dev), ADC (Gen), SSP, SDM and DSP conducted simultaneous raids at various locations in Fazilka district.
ADC (Dev) Arvind Kumar confirmed over the phone that curbing illegal sand mining in the region is one of their major priorities. In total the raiding team confiscated 5 tractor trolleys and one JCB machine from a sand quarry located at Sukhera Bodla in Jalalabad assembly segment.
Kumar added that they have arrested 4 persons from the spot and have booked them under various sections of IPC.
Sources revealed that the alliance of disgruntled Akali MP has popped up. It is pertinent to mention that in last couple of days, Congress workers who were heading for sand mining in Guruharsahai villages of Amir Khas and Middha were forced to return and asked to mend their ways by local villagers.
