Chandigarh: The sweets, candles and soya prepared by the Burail jail inmates is receiving high attention at the International Trade fair being held at New Delhi. This year’s India International Trade Fair 2016 will give the audience a glimpse of Model Jail, Burail, Chandigarh. According to jail officials, the sweets and other handmade articles prepared by the jail inmates are being sold at low prices which is attracting the customers. Assistant Inspector General of Prison, SK Jain said that open hand and cross flag made of wooden prepared by the jail inmates of Model jail, Burail have been wooing the visitors at the jail.
The aim to erect a stall at International Trade Fair is to aware the people about the articles made by jail inmates which will help them getting a recognition at International level. According to sources, there is stall of Tihar jail inmates as well which are also selling articles prepared by the inmates of Tihar jail, however the articles of Burail jail is getting more customers due to lesser price and finer quality. Meanwhile, the furniture made by the Burail jail inmates is already being sold in Chandigarh. After the furniture is prepared by the prisoners it is further sold to all Government Schools and Government offices in Chandigarh. With better quality and reasonable prices of the furniture, we are also getting demand from other states as well, said a jail official. Apart from the furniture, in the stall at the fair of Delhi, the stall at fair will also showcase photographs and PPT slideshow which depicts the changed life of Model Jail, Burail.
The administration thought of installing a stall of Model Jail in Delhi Fair so that the growth of Model Jail can be displayed. Meanwhile, the fair which began from 14 November in Delhi will continue till 27 November and over 10,000 people are expected to visit in the fair.
