Dera Bassi: Several teams of Income Tax Department, on Thursday, raided at offices and projects sites of Gupta Builders and Promoters(GBP).

Raids were conducted simultaneously at Kharar, Chandigarh, Zirakpur and Derabassi offices of GBP. Various builders who are already feeling heat of demonetisation, closed their offices in both Zirakpur and Derabassi after hearing about the raid.

Raids were going on till the filing of report. It is pertinent to mention that GBP has been running nearly one dozen residential and commercial projects in Derabassi, Zirakpur and Kharar. One of his mega commercial project named Centrum is coming up in Zirakpur.

According to reports, raid were conducted from different teams at various other places. The team kept on verifying the computerised and manual records of the financial years of the company and seized some of the records for thorough assessment.

Even, labourers engaged at GBP’s Echo I and Echo II, were detained and released after several queries by sleuths of Income Tax department. However, IT officials remained tight lipped over the raid and did not disclosed anything whether it was a full fledge raid or a part of survey

drive.

“The team assessed the documents pertaining to stocks, sales, expenditure and investments of the company. They were verifying the records whether company had paid the requisite amount of income tax or not,” said Raman Gupta, Director, GBP.
