Three matches of Connect Union Territory Cricket Association Cup were played on Sunday.
Chandigarh Police, Videocon Connect and Goyal Bhateja batting second easily chased the score to register convincing victories. In the first match Reliance Jio was in front of Chandigarh Police. Chandigarh Police win the toss and elected to field first to exploit the condition of pitch as it had rained heavily on Saturday. Their decision proved correct as the first wicket fell at just 11 runs. For the second wicket they had to wait for 36 runs as Daljeet (23) bated solidly.
After his wicket the batting order of Reliance crumbled and they could post only 134 for loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Chandigarh Police had a solid start as their openers stitched a partnership of 51 runs. The second wicket fell in the next over but then for the third wicket Balwinder Junior bated with Ramandeep to accumulate 37 runs. Balwinder the highest score with his 61 runs was out on 112. After that Gurpreet and Hari Om took the team safely to victory in 18th over.
The second match saw Competent winning the toss and electing not bat. Their decision backfired as except Sahas (37) no other batsman was able to spend time on the ground. The bowlers of Videocon Connect exploited the condition to their advantage and jolted the line up of Competent at regular interval. Sandeep was pick of the bowlers as he took 3 wickets in 3 over conceiving 17 runs.
He was supported by Sudhir in his assault. He took 3 wickets. Competent posted 116 at loss of 9 wickets. Following the total Vinay (23) and kuljeet (33) gave Videocon a flying start. For the first wicket they added 46 runs. Two wickets were lost by Videocon in quick succession but but Kuljeet held one end of the wicket. He got support from Jagsir (20) whose blitskrieg ensured that Nitesh and Sandeep take the winners home.
In the last match Axis Bank after winning sent Goyal Bhateja for batting but at that time the condition had changed for batting as they posted a mammoth total of 155 for in 20 overs.
