Chandigarh: Chaos and harassment was the order of the day at Registering and Licensing Authority Office in Sector 17 on Tuesday. Applicants faced harrowing time especially during the peak hours between 9 am to 11:30 am. Some of the applicants also alleged that RLA server went down on Monday as well.
It was two days of inconvenience to the applicants as the server breakdown at RLA caused heavy rush during the morning hours. However later in the day the server was sluggish and public was forced to wait for hours to get the clearance.
Head of the Department RLA, Karnail Singh said, “There was some problem in server for few hours but later RLA started functioning normally. We have automated token system at RAL which gives minimal inconvenience to the public.”
The GPS server went down right in the morning. In no time, long queues were formed at the counters. Nobody knew how long it would take for work to start. It was only in the afternoon that the computers started working.
Varun Garg, a student of Panjab University who came to collect his learner’s driving licence, said, “I was here at 9 am and they asked me to wait for half an hour but I had to wait for more than two and half hours just to collect my licence.”
