Chandigarh: The file regarding termination and rejoining request filed by 46 community volunteer teachers working under Sarv Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), on Thursday has been sent back to the Education Department.
Sources from Education Department claimed that on the request made by the terminated teachers, department had sent a file to Finance Secretary cum Education Secretary, Saravjit Singh stating that the department should reconsider on the termination orders. The file was then sent to Adviser to Administrator, Parimal Rai.
“While, on Thursday, Adviser asked department to file a reply as to why earlier the department had terminated these teachers and now why they have purposed their rejoining,” added the source.
Meanwhile, the file sent to Education Secretary, the department had asked to extend the contract of these 46 voluntary teachers until March 31, 2017. Responding to the consideration made by department, Education Secretary had forwarded the file to Adviser.
Talking to daily post correspondent, Parveen, one of the teachers said, “We can’t say anything at the moment, chances are 50-50. We can only pray and hope for the best. We don’t know till when the DSE will be filling his reply and when will we get our rejoining letter.” “I have not received the file,” said, Director School Education Rubinderjit Singh Brar.
The minutes of the meeting of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Mision society UT meeting agenda for the 17 meeting of the executive committee held on September 22 (a copy of which is with Daily Post) had unanimously recommended continuing services of 46 community volunteers up to March 31, 2017, out of the state budget.
The minutes of the meeting also read that the continuation of services of 46 community volunteers for the year 2016-2017 out of the state budget, Executive committee was appraised that the committee has
recommended that services of community volunteers are useful to identify out school children and to bring them to school and their continuation.
