Chandigarh : In order to do away with long queues in OPDs of Manimajra Civil Hospital has taken the initiative of installing token machines for the patients coming to the hospital.
Confirming the same, Senior Medical Officer Manimajra Dr Arun Bansal said, “It has been around one year that the machines had been installed. For first three months, the token system was being run on a trial basis just to see the response and I are happy that patients coming to the hospital found it a big help.”
The system has been implemented to help thousands of patients who have to stand in queues at OPDs, as earlier, the patients used to wait outside the doctor’s office, without any clue when their turn would come. They used to keep barging into the doctor’s cabin and at times lost their cool, added Dr Bansal.
“I am so happy that now we are given a token number and by the time our turn comes, we can sit and wait for our turn. Now there is no hassle of standing in long queues,” said Reena Kumari, a resident of Indra colony.
Sharing the same view, Devinder Kumar, a resident of Indra Colony, said, “Earlier, it was really very difficult to stand in long queue and many time people used to fight while trying to get their OPD cards made but now once we are given token number people don’t rush unnecessarily at the OPD card registration window.”
Meanwhile, the installed token system allows the patients to visit their consulted doctors in a much disciple and managed manner as once the token numbers after the registration are issued to the patients the token numbers are displayed on digital display boards placed outside the OPDs.
