Chandigarh:The air traffic at the Chandigarh international airport is gaining pace with a total of 38 flights arriving and departing on daily basis as announced in the summer schedule released by the Airport Authority of India on Friday. The schedule comes in force from March 26 and will last till October 28.
In all 38 flights will now depart and arrive at the Chandigarh international airport, including two international flights to Dubai and Sharjah. Now 17 flights will fly on the Chandigarh-Delhi sector in the new schedule. Earlier there were only 26 flights till last year.
The watch hours have also been increased in the new schedule with first flight arriving at 7:40 am and the last flight departing at 9:45 pm which were till 8 pm earlier.
In the domestic sector, two new destinations will be connected to Chandigarh in this flight schedule. Daily flights to Jaipur and Jammu have also found place in the schedule.
IndiGo Airlines is all set to announce daily direct flight to Jammu. The IndiGo Airlines and Jet Airways are all set to fly direct flights to Jammu and Jaipur, respectively.
According to IndiGo officials, the Chandigarh-Jammu flight will depart at 1:35 pm and will reach Jammu at 2:50 pm. The flight, in return, will depart Jammu airport at 3:25 pm to reach Chandigarh at 4:40 pm. The one-way fare as announced will be approximately Rs 3,200.
Similarly, starting March 26, the flight between Jaipur and Chandigarh will depart Jaipur at 2 pm, arriving in Chandigarh at 3:30 pm. The returning flight will depart Chandigarh at 4:10 pm to reach Jaipur at 5:40 pm. The one-way fare as announced will be approximately Rs 2,000.
