Dera Bassi: Former Central Krishi Shilp Vikas director Avtar Singh Nagla who climbed on a Eucalyptus tree around six years ago, now climbed on a overhead watertank, situated in front of SDM office at Dera Bassi on Wednesday. He alleged police highhandedness in case of illegal possession attempt on a plot in the village.
However, he stepped down from the tank, two hours later, only after assurance of due action against by DSP Parminder Singh.
As per reports, Avtar Nagla raised slogans against police and administration for not taking due course of action on complaint of the plot holder who had been attacked by the assailants in a bid to illegally possess her plot. He alleged that instead of helping the victim family, police had been helping the assailants and did nothing against him.
On telephonically assurance of DSP, he later, stepped down from the water tank.
It has to be mentioned here that Avtar Nagla also climbed atop a eucalyptus tree near his village to mark protest against the police on 15th of April in year 2011. After spending almost a month, he stepped down on 14th of May from the tree only in the presence officials of district administration after a month.DP
