Chandigarh: Government Railway Police (GRP) after investigations reached a conclusion that the Dalit girl found dead near railway tracks was not murdered but she had committed suicide. Removing the Section 302 of the IPC from the FIR, GRP added abetment to suicide Sections against two brothers Kuldeep and Deepak Chauhan.
Kuldeep has already been booked under Section 3(2) of the POCSO Act following the complaint of the mother of the girl on charges of repeatedly raping the girl on pretext of getting married.
They both have been arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days at Ambala Central Jail. Deepak is the co-accused and also threatened the girl to kill her if she did not leave Kuldeep, said GRP DSP Taken Raj said, “We have investigated the case and reached the conclusion that the accused Kuldeep and Deepak are not involved in murder of the girl. They were present at their respective work places during the incident time. This was confirmed in the CCTV footages recovered from their offices. So, at present the murder charges have been dropped. However, following the complaint of the victim’s mother, we arrested the two on charges of abetment to suicide as well as POCSO Act. Now, we will also get the suicide note examined from the forensic department.” The DSP also added that in her disclosure statement, mother of the girl alleged that the victim had confessed to her that she had developed physical relations with Kuldeep on pretext of getting married. The mother said that Kuldeep had repeated physical relation with the victim on pretext of getting married to her but later backed out forcing her to commit suicide.
