Mohali: The CIA staff of Mohali and City Police Station, Kharar claimed to have arrested seven persons of two separate gangs, which were involved in robbery and vehicle theft cases.
Addressing a press conference at PCA, Mohali on Tuesday, Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that three pistols of .315 bore, one revolver of .32 bore, one country-made pistol, live cartridges and 25 motorcycles of different models have been recovered from them. DSP Harsimrat Singh, Inspector Gurcharan Singh and Inspector Vijay Kumar were also present during press conference.
Bhullar said that, on June 8, a police party led by Inspector Gurcharan Singh, in-charge CIA staff, Mohali was on a checking duty at Bansa Wali Chungi, Kharar. The party got information that Pargat Singh alias Otla, who was a companion of jailed hardcore gangsters, had reached Mohali to commit a robbery. His accomplices included, Gurpeet Singh, Gurwinder Singh alias Raju, Gurpreet Sing alias Pardesi.
They were also accused to help absconders by giving them shelter and other support. The police based on the tip-off registered a case under Sections 212, 216, 382 of IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of Arms Act at City Police Station, Kharar against these accused. Pargat Singh who is a resident of Lakhi Jungle village in Bathinda, Gurwinder Singh resident of Bajhheri village under Sadar Police Station, Kharar Gurpreet Singh, resident of Patti Gharoan, Gurpreet Singh, resident of village Dussarna under Police Station Kurali, were arrested, said SSP.
“During initial interrogations, Otla accepted that he along with his accomplices were planning to perform a robbery in Mohali. Against Otla cases of scuffles and Arms Act have also been registered at Bathinda. In the past, he had also been associated with gangster Gurpreet Sekhon, resident of Mudki in Bathinda and gangster Jodha Kotheguru from village Kotheguru in Bathinda.
Otla also revealed to have been involved in many scuffle cases along with Gurpreet Sekhon,” the SSP said. Meanwhile, SSP further said that a police party led by Inspector Vijay Kumar from City Police Station Kharar has arrested vehicles thieves, Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukkha of Khanpur village, Gurwant Singh of Jakadmajra village in Sadar police station, Kharar, Ramandeep Singh alias Raman from Fatehgarh village in Kurali police station. As many as 25 motorcycles were recovered from them that were stolen from different places. A case under Sections 419, 382, 379, 467, 468 and 471 of IPC was registered against them at City Police Station, Kharar.
