Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police have arrested two engineering students of Punjab Engineering College (PEC) who allegedly broke the windscreens of around a dozen in Chandigarh. The youths have confessed that they broke the glasses of 5 cars in sector 21 and also broken the glasses of many cars in sector 22 and 15, Chandigarh after consuming liquor.
According to police, the accused have been identified as Ekant Sahni (22) a native of Gurdaspur (Punjab) and Akshit Jakhar (23) a resident of Sector 21 Panchkula.
The accused were arrested following complaint of Abhishek Gupta a resident of Sector 21 D, Chandigarh stated that on November 29, he had parked his car I-20 (CH01AG-8021) inside the main gate of his house.
On November 30 at about 4 AM he woke up and saw that a boy having one iron rod and brick was standing near his car. When he saw to complainant then he hit the brick on front glass of car and fled away with his associates in a car, which was parked outside the gate.
During the course of investigation, CCTV cameras footage revealed a white car bearing (HP03P-2324) was detected at Panchkula Sector 21 of Akshit Jakhar.
The owners of the car were interrogated who confessed the crime committed by him. On his identification his associate, who was driving the car at the time of incident named Ekant Sahni was arrested.
During interrogation they disclosed that they are student of engineering in PEC college sector 12, Chandigarh on the night of November 29, they consumed liquor and in the influence of liquor they have broken the glasses of cars for fun.
The accused have been arrested and booked under relevant sections of IPC at Police Station Sector 19, Chandigarh.
