Chandigarh: Indian Plastic Institute, Chandigarh Chapter organized an event “NAVONMESH” under the aegis of its Student Chapter at Dr S S Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET), Panjab University (PU) campus.
This was meant for school and college students wherein they were expected to display their creativity and innovative ideas by using waste plastics such as pipes, pipefittings, sheets, foams, disposable cups/plates/spoons, plastic bags, bottles, etc.
IPI is a professional organisation with its chapters all around the country and headquarters at Mumbai. IPI Chandigarh has been promoting the cause of plastic industry in this region for the last two decades through education and training programs related to plastic and allied industries.
Schools and students showed big enthusiasm and as many as 16 teams participated in the on-site competition. Prof Paramjit Singh, Hon Chairman and Dr Gaurav Verma, Secretary of the Chandigarh Chapter addressed the students and informed them about the importance of the plastics and the right way for their use and disposal so that the blame for unfortunate incidents does not fall on the innocent plastics.
