Chandigarh: Nearly after four weeks, Chandigarh Police have arrested three persons for allegedly murdering Senior Manager of Reliance JIO. According to police, the accused murdered the victim for the motive of robbery.
Vineet Tehran, 38 -year- old Senior Manager with Reliance JIO was murdered with an axe near his residence at Mani Majra.
Version of complainant
Complainant Vicky Anand, a security guard stated that he was on duty on July 30 at 11.25 pm he saw a vehicle standing at right side in front of the gate of Uppal Society and heard a noise. Later he saw driver coming out of the car along with three other persons. After coming out three started beating the driver after which three fled from the scene on motorcycle.
During investigation accused Manish (27), Aamir (21) both residents of Mani Majra, Chandigarh and Aakash (20) alias Golu a resident of Rajiv Colony, Panchkula were arrested on August 21 on extra judicial confession. The accused are on Police remand till August 27.
Weapons used in crime i.e. two axels, blood stained cloth of all accused and motorcycle as well as two I-cards issued by Reliance JIO, three pen drives and cards of the deceased have been recovered from their possession.
DSP east answers queries on why police investigation contradicts complainant statement
Q- What happened on the night and what was the motive of murder?
DSP East – The accused attacked victim from behind while he was answering natures call on the road side. The motive was robbery.
Q – If robbery was a motive why the accused didn’t take away car and laptop of victim ?
DSP East – The accused were in a hurry and reported that security guard saw them following which they tried to escape as early as possible with whatever they managed to get from victim’s pocket.
Q – Did the accused have a conversation with the victim before hitting him?
DSP East – No, the security guard just guessed that the accused might have had a conversation earlier with victim and entered into a spat with him. The CCTV also does not show victim in conversation with the accused or sitting with them in the car.
Accused attempts suicide in police custody
The accused, Manish Chand hit his head with tube light in police station during interrogation and police booked him on charges of attempt to commit suicide.
Accused father alleges of illegal confinement
Father of an accused Manish, has alleged of illegal detainment of his son by the warrant officer since August 13, however the police showed his arrest on August 21. The father of the accused has also approached High Court. Puran Chand alleged that they had lodged a daily dairy report in IT park police station on August 15 when they saw that his son was detained illegally.
