Chandigarh: UT Administration is all set to upgrade the Sector 34 homeopathic dispensary into 50 bedded AYUSH hospital. UT has also got a nod from the administrator with a sanctioned budget of Rs two crores. However UT eyes to construct a multilevel AYUSH hospital at Manimajra for which the land in being looked for, said Home-cum-Health Secretary Anurag Aggarwal.
UT will also be constructing three more hospitals in the peripheral areas of the city and one such hospital is due to come up at Sector 48 at a cost of Rs 28 crores. Home Secretary directed the health department officials during a review meeting to expedite the work on various projects setting up the deadline on Monday.
Aggarwal said, “We have decided to upgrade the homeopathic dispensary in Sector 34 to be upgraded into 50 bedded AYUSH hospital. Later we also have plans to construct full-fledged AYUSH hospital at Manimajra for which the land is being identified. We have also set deadline of October to initiate the ICU unit at GMSH-16.”
He said that Sector 34 dispensary was underused and according to the orders of Ministry of AYUSH, UT will set up hospitals under the project. Sector 34 dispensary will be at present upgraded to 50 bedded AYUSH hospital but later full-fledged hospital will come up at Manimajra.
Another hospital is in pipeline, said Aggarwal at Sector 48. “The drawigs and layout plan for the hospital is approved and engineering deprtment has also prepared approximate expenditure of RS 28 crore for setting up of the hospital. The proposal will be sent for administrator nod,” said Aggarwal.
