Besides intellectual development, our college places much importance on students’ physical and social development as part of an overall or holistic approach to learning.
Q. What is your vision for the students at MCM?
I am glad that I have the exceptional opportunity to be a part of this glorious institution. The college has been the hallmark of quality education in the region and is the top choice of all the girls’ students. Besides the technical and professional enhancement in the campus, there is another goal that I have put my heart into. I want to inculcate strong moral values in our students. DAV ideals are a perfect amalgamation of tradition and technology. That is what I want my students to live by.
Q. How much importance does the research work hold for an institution?
A: I am glad that I have been given the opportunity to lead one of the most reputed colleges of the region. MCM has been the hallmark of holistic education. There are certain areas that I am particularly focussing on to take MCM to even greater heights of glory. Research is one of the key areas. It is the yardstick of the wholesome training methodology we adopt at MCM. I plan to improve the research facilities and inculcate in our students a temperament for research- based education and learning at the undergraduate level itself. Research makes learning more practical and deep-rooted.
Q. Are you planning to refurbish the existing infrastructure?
To foster a comprehensive and research-based pragmatic training system, we plan to better the infrastructure of the labs and classrooms. The overall infrastructure of the college and hostel will be revamped to make it more students friendly. Well equipped labs, advanced equipments and well trained instructors is what makes learning a rewarding experience.
Q. How do you ready your students for their professional careers?
The quality of students we produce is the best measure of the success of our training methodologies. We are innovating everyday to enhance the employability quotient of our students. Industrial trainings, field visits, workshops, seminars and other platforms for industry academia interaction are some of the tools we use to sculpt them into industry ready individuals.
Q. What measures ensure the upgradation of knowledge and skills of the staff?
We regularly conduct training programs and development courses for our teaching faculty. Taking this to another level, I plan to introduce trainings and workshops for non- teaching staff also. This will enhance their knowledge and technical skills.
Q. What type of courses are you planning to add?
My focus is on promoting the existing professional and career-oriented courses and adding new ones to develop skills amongst the students to boost the chances of their employability. Such courses are the need of the hour and give exceptional edge to the students during the crucial formative phase of their professional sojourn.
Q. If given a chance would you like to become the principal of any other college?
No, joining this college was my dream. I was extremely happy when I became the part of this college and now I want to make sure that the college makes its identity not only in India but internationally also. Moreover, for that I am continuously trying to plan all possible efforts. To name some a career enhancement progmamme is one of them. We keep on organising such programme workshops, with an objective of bringing out personality development as it is important in preparing the students for the professional world, as preparedness and pre-planning is the ultimate key to success in every aspect of life.
