Chandigarh: The Economic Offence Wing of Chandigarh Police arrested a woman for allegedly duping a bank of Rs 21 lakh by giving forged documents.According to the police, the accused has been identified as Monica Mittal, a partner of Swami Auto mobile Centre, Industrial Area, Chandigarh.
The police sources said that Chief Manager of Punjab National Bank had given a complaint to the UT Police stating that the accused had taken loan of Rs 21 lakh to buy a demo car for the centre. However, the bank officials found that papers submitted with the bank were forged.
The bank officials then informed the centre’s authorities but failed to get any response and also learnt that the demo car against which the loan was given to the accused was sold.
Following which the bank officials gave a formal complaint to the police. The police team after verifying, registered a case under sections of cheating at Police Station Sector 17. The complaint was transferred to EOW wing and post investigations and the accused Mittal was arrested on Thursday.
