Chandigarh: A 45-year-old woman occupant of a car was killed after the car she was travelling in was hit by another car near the roundabout of Sectors 46/47-48/49 on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. According to the police, the victim has been identified as Narinder Kaur (45), a resident of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Society, Sector 49, Chandigarh and was working as a pharmacist at a dispensary located at Police Lines Sector 26.
The complainant in the matter, Anmol Rattan Malhotra, a resident of Chandigarh, alleged that the driver of a vehicle (Maruti Ritz car) bearing registration no PB-01-A-6546 hit the complainant’s car (CH-01-AW-7027) near the roundabout of Sectors 46/47-48/49, Chandigarh. Following the accident, the complainant’s wife was injured and was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH-32) Sector 32, where duty doctors declared her brought dead.
Police sources said that that victim was heading to Mathura with her husband and others in the car when the accident occured at around 2:30 am on the night intervening June 4 and June 5. Meanwhile, acting in the matter, the police have booked the driver of the car under Sections 279 (rash driving), 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 337 (causing hurt by act of endangering life or personal safety of others) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Sector 49, Chandigarh. The investigation is in progress, the accused is yet to be arrested, said a police official.
