Chandigarh: A man was killed by his wife’s brother for marrying her against his will on Saturday at Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh. Mohammad Irfan, aged 22, was stabbed to death with a meat chopping knife at around 6 am. The slain victim hailed from Bijnour, Uttar Pradesh and married Sahiba, aged 19, just six days ago. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Shehbaz, aged 20, residence of Mauli Jagran.
During investigation it came to fore that accused, who is brother of Sahiba killed Irfan for taking revenge as he was against his sister’s love marriage and had disputes with victim earlier also. Following this accused stabbed the victim six times with chopper. Baldev Singh, Station House Officer, Mauli Jagran said that incident took place at around 6 in the morning at masti market, when the victim, a helper with a supply van of a meat shop reached at his duty.
Following this the accused Mohammad Shehbaz who also worked at a meat shop, immediately attacked the victim with chopper and stabbed him at head, stomach and chest. Further, he said that the owner of meat shop Mohammad Chand called the police and rushed the deceased to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh where he was declared brought dead. The accused ran from spot and after conducting various raids, police arrested the accused and a case has been registered under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code in police station of Mauli Jagran. The weapon used in the murder is still to be recovered by police.
