Chandigarh’s Silk Mela: The sheen and delicacy of silk can make any woman go weak at her knees. She might be an urban chic, but her wardrobe stays incomplete until the rich fabric finds its way in. Chandigarh women have a particularly soft corner for silk, that beautifully blends the elegance and glamour. Famous Silk Mela will start from October 22, which will be run till 4 November.The ‘Silk fab’ exhibition of exquisite silk handloom fabrics is being organised by National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (A Govt. of India undertaking) and sponsored by Ministry of Textiles (Govt of India). ‘Silk Fab’ is being organised at Himachal Bhawan which is located in Sector- 28-B, Chandigarh. The exhibition showcases the blend of hand woven fabric from different states of India. Handicrafts-related craftsmen and traders from across the country will participate in this exhibition.Although Silk is one of the costlier fabric in India, but it has always been loved by women because it gives the rich and elegant look. Silk Fab 2016 edition in Chandigarh has a wide variety of Silk material woven in different shapes and sizes. The exhibition showcases the large varieties of Silk material from different states of India including Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Karnataka, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and much more.As all the stalls are registered under Govt of India, we can say that the quality of fabric offered by the exhibitors is at par with quality. Last year Silk Mela was held in Sector 35 in Kisan Bhawan, but this time, it is being organized at Himachal Bhawan, Sector 28B, Chandigarh.Apart from this the ‘Saras Mela’, which earns great popularity in the country and abroad, is once again running in the city Ludhiana, which is a great honor for Ludhiana and its residents.Famous Saras Mela was inaugurated at grounds of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on October 5 to October 16, 2017, in which many artists, artisans, mercenaries and skilled people of various states are participating, thousands of people are enjoying buying and selling daily.
