Supreme court ordered to run criminal consipirancy case against RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in multi-crore fodder scam on Monday. Accepting the appeal of the CBI against the Jharkhand High Court verdict, the apex court pronounced this verdict. The CBI had challenged the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court to make criminal conspiracy against Lalu Yadav and other accused for removing the other charges. The court will decide whether the cases related to the fodder scam will continue or not.
The High Court had given relief to Lalu Prasad Yadav in November, 2014, by plugging the charges against him under IPC Sections. The Supreme Court also rebuked the CBI for delay in filing an appeal in the matter. The court has also ordered the trial court to complete the hearing within 9 months. During the hearing of the case in the Supreme Court, Ram Jethmalani had said that allegations are alike in all the cases so that the cases were registered. There is no need to listen to different cases. The Supreme Court had completed the hearing on April 20.
Lalu Yadav has six separate cases pending in the fodder scam, and in one of them, he has been sentenced to 5 years. Here is noteworthy that Lalu Yadav has challenged the jail sentence found in the fodder scam.
