Despite Capt promises, Udham Singh’s family yet to get Govt. job. Today is 77th Death anniversary of Shaheed Udham Singh. Being such a great Indian revolutionary, who was best known for assassinating Sir Michael O Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab in British India. In the current scenario, government is providing high class facilities to celebrities like singers, actors, and sport persons including their families but forgets the real heroes of the country and their families.The government remembers the martyrs on special occasions for performing the ceremonies but later forgets to summarize their family members that they are in which state. Probably this is the reason that the legacy of martyr Udham Singh was compelled to do labour work to earn their bread.Amarinder Singh promised to give government jobs to the heirs of Shaheed Udham Singh 11 years ago. In 2006, the Chief Minister’s office issued a letter in this regard but after the change of government, the matter went to the cold storage. The martyr’s family members now hope that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will fulfill the promise.Sister of Shaheed Udham Singh, Asa Kaur and grandson Jit Singh lives in Sunam. Due to economic difficulties, the family is forced to do labour work to live their life. Captain’s government promised to give job to Jagat Singh’s son Jagga Singh. Despite this, even after 11 years, they did not get any job. Jit Singh, son of Shaheed Udham Singh’s nephew, is running his livelihood by working on daily wages.Jit Singh said that in the year 2006, the Punjab Government gave assurance regarding providing government job to his son Jagga Singh. Jagga Singh also works on daily wages. Under this, the special officer issued a letter by the Chief Minister’s office to the Sangrur DC for job order but they are still waiting for the day to come.
