The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) inked a pact with Blue Stallion Equipments (P) Limited, Ludhiana, and Rajinder Agri Clinic, Manawala, Amritsar for licensing of Rooftop Vegetable Nutrition Garden Model using Soilless Media Technology. Director of Research, PAU, Dr Navtej Singh Bains and Parvinder Singh, and Dr Rajinder Singh signed the Memorandum of Agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Dr Navtej Singh Bains congratulated the proprietors for sharing responsibility of the disseminating the technologies developed by PAU.
The senior Research Engineer at Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University, Dr KG Singh informed that PAU had become the pioneer to develop rooftop/terrace vegetable nutrition garden model for urban and periurban population using soilless media. The technology requires only 12.6 sq m (net area = 4.2 m x 3.0 m) and gross area is of 20 sq m (5.5 m x 3.6 m), the vegetable produced will be sufficient for a family of 2-4 persons, 10 vegetables like tomato, bell pepper, cucumber, coriander, broccoli, spinach, pea, lettuce, fenugreek and chinni sarson are being grown, with staggered sowing/transplanting, the vegetables would be available round the year. Adjunct Professor of Technology Marketing Dr SS Chahal and IPR Cell informed that PAU has signed 198 MoAs and commercialised 46 technologies including hybrid lines of mustard, chilli, brinjal and varieties.
