CM AND HIS CONGRESS TEAM ARE FINDING TOUGH TO COUNTER THE ALLEGATIONS ABOUT DRUGS IN PUNJAB WHICH HAVE BEEN LEVELED BY NONE OTHER THAN THE RULING PARTY MLA
Punjab Congress seems to be in a dilemma from which there is tough escape because of some conflicting conditions which arose when party MLA from Zira constituency Kulbir Singh Zira accused an Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mukhwinder Singh Chhina of being hand-in-glove with drug peddlers and that too in a full public view during a government function held at Ferozepur recently. Had it been concerned with the police official only, the situation could have been brought under control with no major damage, but the furious Congress email@example.com RAJAY DEEP Assistant Editor DAILYPOST MLA before leaving the stage in protest also ensured to “expose” the tall claims of state government with also quoting some promises and oaths taken by the chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to get the state free from the clutches of drugs. As Zira caused a major embarrassment to the Congress party, which got a major boost through social media, the Punjab Congress on Wednesday suspended him from the primary membership of the party.
Though the state unit head Sunil Kumar Jakhar claimed that the decision as taken in the wake of indiscipline shown by the MLA, the insiders smelt some deep water politics which connects to the coming Lok Sabha polls. Unable to smell the message in the air, Zira didn’t mind airing his apprehension about the PPCC chief Sunil Kumar Jakhar patronising the IGP in question. The MLA also warned to expose the whole nexus in the days ahead. Meanwhile, the chief minister called a meeting of Malwa zone MLAs and observing that the door could be slammed on his face, Zira met Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and met Navjot Singh Sidhu and got the blessings of both. He also gave in writing to PPCC president to abide by his directions. Despite all, he wasn’t allowed to enter the meeting hall with a single liner message that the high command was yet to take a call on his request. With party showing Zira his place, IGP Chhina apparently got adrenaline and he arrested Zira’s close aide Ginni Sodhi, who was shown as a proclaimed offender. Though Zira has virtually lost the battle to Chhina and the party high command also not holding his hand, his unusual outburst is still seen as if it put the party in a catch-22 situation. Alleging that the CM couldn’t make the state drug free, which was one of the strongest promises made by him while seeking votes in 2017, he gave enough food to the Opposition. Now, Amarinder Singh and his Congress team are finding tough to counter the allegations of Opposition as the same has been endorsed by their own MLA. And if they tighten the noose around party MLA, it may force Zira, joined by his former Akali minister father Inderjit Singh Zira and like-minded people, to launch a parallel front.
