Members of various Sikh religious groups will gather at a gurdwara in Kotkapura’s Bargari village on June 1 to commemorate second anniversary of the Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege incident in 2015.
Baljit Singh Daduwal, who heads Panthic Sewa Lehar, said, “We have invited all Sikh groups and are expecting a gathering of 2,000-3,000 people. The police are yet to make any arrest in the killing of two Sikhs at Behbal Kalan.”
Nearly 400 cops will be deployed to ensure law and order during the ceremony. To avoid any trouble, police teams from adjoining districts reached Faridkot on Monday. Flag marches will be held before the event, an official said. Faridkot SSP Nanak Singh said, “We will have a tight security on the occasion to ensure peaceful proceedings.”
