Sikhya providers had been appointed in the schools to meet out the deficiency of the teachers and they had been working sincerely and have been imparting the education to the primary classes equal to the other ETT teachers.
It is a tragedy that inspite of giving services equal to the other ETT teachers they are paid very low salary and always had been uprooted whenever ETT teacher had been transferred in the schools where the Sikhya providers had been working.
Now the Sikhya providers are going through a very tough time as they had not been paid their salary since four months, due to which they are going through a very big financial crisis.
But the government had not been paying proper attention towards their needs so far and they had been waiting for the salary.
On Wednesday many of the Sikhya providers gathered at Feropzepur and hold a meeting with the District Education Officer Ferozepur Suresh Arora and handed over a memorandum to him, in which they had urged to pay their salary as soon as possible so that they can survive their families.
They had also urged the DEO to implement the letter no bearing memo No. 10/38-2016, memo No. 25/21-16 A-1(3) dated 14 September 2016 in which it had been said that the post in any school hold by any Sikhya provider would be considered as filled seat and in case of rationalisation only the senior teacher who so ever he or she may be on on what sos ever post he or shwe may be holding would be shifted to the other schools, whether the teacher is Sikhya provider or regular teacher.
The DEO assured them that he would not apply this rule while applying the policy of rationalization. After meeting the DEO the president of the union of Sikhya Providers Jagbir Singh said that if any of the education officer tried to over rule the above letter and do the in justice with the Sikhya Providers they would not hesitate to come on the roads and also go to the courts for the justice
