Patiala: The CBI has given a clean chit to former Patiala mayor Jaspal Singh Pardhan, who was booked for murder in connection with the death of a woman in February 2013.
In a challan filed in a CBI court on Tuesday, a team of the investigation agency, led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Neelam Singh, said the victim’s husband, Harpreet Singh, had been found to be responsible for her suicide and would tried under Section 306 of the IPC for abetment to suicide. Harpreet’s mother, Paramjit Kaur, was also made an accused in the case.
Pardhan and the mother-and-son duo wre booked for the murder of Parampreet Kaur, 28, on a police complaint lodged by her father, Amarjit Singh. Parampreet, who lived with her husband in Kashmiri Toba locality of Patiala, was found dead on February 23, 2013. The CBI special court accepted the challan and also ordered the release of Paramjit. She was released on a bond of Rs 1 lakh.
