Kapurthala: Punjab Jails will be equipped with CCTVs soon. Announcing this in Kapurthala Modern Jail, Sohan Singh Thandal, Jail,Tourism & Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab said that a project worth Rs. 15 Crores has been finalized for installation on CCTVs in all jails so that every nook and corner is covered .The Cabinet Minister was here to congratulate Muslim prisoners on Ramadan.
The Minister distributed sweets and fruits among the Muslims who were on fast in the month of Ramadan. He congratulated the Muslim brotherhood of sacred month of Ramadan .Thandal noted down the problems faced by the prisoners and assured them of their solution.
Minister Thandal told journalists that the Punjab Govt. is dead serious to stop the entry of the narcotics and drugs inside jail premises .” Nobody will be able to use cellphones or other prohibited items inside the jails .CCTVs will help in the security of the jails and Officers will be able to keep an eye on the movements easily.The results will be seen immediately ” Thandal said.
Thandal told prisoners that Training Courses are being started to enable the prisoners to earn their lively hood after their release .” In this programme we will have courses of Computers,Cooking,Bakery,Carpenter and English Speaking for you and we will give you certificates also on the completion of the particular course ” Minister told prisoners.
Cabinet Minister visited jail hospital also to check the cleanliness and other facilities .He was accompanied by DSP Jail Daljit Singh Bhatti and other jail officials.
