Beijing: China has allocated $414 million for rebuilding homes that were damaged or toppled in natural disasters in 2016.
A total of 29 provincial-level regions have disaster-hit homes undergoing repairs or reconstruction, according to a Ministry of Civil Affairs’ statement.
The ministry said it will carry out supervision on rebuilding work and hear regular reports on the progress this year to ensure that all relocated people have a proper place to live, Xinhua news agency reported.
In 2016, natural disasters forced the relocation of over 9.1 million people and affected nearly 190 million people in total, leaving 1,432 dead, according to the official document.
The disasters destroyed 521,000 houses and damaged 3.34 million others to varying degrees.
