Heart shaped candy boxes, chocolate boxes wrapped in red ribbons and cuddly soft-toys can be spotted in every store.
So, the real relevance of the day is being diluted under the effect of growing commercialisation. “ What I feel that people indulge in meaningless shopping without giving adequate thought to what they are buying and for whom”, said college student, Ambika Chitkara. She added, “It is important to understand the evolution of Valentines’ Day and the real relevance of valentine gifts to make it memorable for your loved ones.”

Teddy bears with “I love you” tags on them, books of love quotes, photo frames, heart shaped cuddly toys, coffee mugs with couples pictures, love themed snow globes of different sizes, heart shaped trinkets and accessories, and so on seem to be hot sellers.
City stores have a range of valentine’s day special products such as key chains, pens, postcards, bookmarks, lampshades, tea candles and light , mouse pads and so on.

Year after year, nothing will make couples happier than receiving a card full of mushy love notes and hearts. “Valentine love is for everyone and there is nothing quite as sentimental as a paper card to show you truly care”, said housewife Siya Dhawan.
