Jalandhar: Ex-Member of Parliament from Congress, Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday resigned from the party on the grounds that the ‘Backward Class’ was being ignored by the congress.
Channi said that he has resigned from the primary membership of congress and forwarded his resignation to the party high command in New Delhi. He also accused Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh of ignoring backward class people in the recently announced Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee executive list.
The ex-MP also said that he would hold a show of strength with people of backward class in the coming days. However, when asked that which party he would be joining now, Channi refused to divulge any details. Notably, Channi has been an MP from Hoshiarpur parliamentary seat from 1994 to 2004.
