New Delhi: The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee organized a Marathon Run to commemorate the 300th year of the martyrdom of Banda Singh Bahadur here on Monday. The run, which started from India Gate and concluded at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib, was organized to send out a message of healthy body and healthy mind to the citizens.
A large number of children, youth, and people from all walks of life participated in the five kilometer long run that was named as First India Victory Run. Committee president Manjeet Singh GK said that it was important to have a healthy body if an individual were to save his religion. GK said that the people from all religions, rising above caste, color, and creed took part in the run. He said that it was critical to recognize the tremendous contribution of Banda Singh Bahadur in the fight against the Mughals. He said that it was due to efforts of DSGMC that people across the country had now started to view the struggle against Mughals as a struggle for freedom.
