Chandigarh: Haryana Government Director Industries and Special Secretary Industry and Commerce, Vivek Atray, has decided to hang up his boots as a bureaucrat. Atray moved an application seeking VRS on July 4. As per sources, his application has been accepted by the state government and Atray is now awaiting approval from the Central government before proceeding on retirement.
Atray had earlier served as Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula under the present BJP government. He was later transferred to the kep department of Industries where he was instrumental in organizing the Happening Haryana Expo. He was on leave since March after the Expo came to end and had joined office July 4. Interestingly, Atray was perceived to be in the good books of the present government in Haryana.
Vivek Atray joined the Haryana Government in 1991 as a HCS officer. He served in a number of key functions during his 25 year service. He was also posted as Director Public Relations and Director IT in the UT Administration where he was contributed significantly to the establishment of the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park. He still had a tenure of over 10 years pending as a bureaucrat
Atray has written two books and is expected to pursue his other interests after retirement.
