Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Saurabh Kumar, MD, Energy Efficient Services Ltd (EESL), signed agreements on Saturday on replacement of the existing conventional 48,000 streetlights with LED streetlights in Chandigarh. The agreements were signed in the presence of Mayor Asha Jaswal.
At present, the total electricity bill works out to be Rs 12.64 crore annually.
The project shall include financing, supply, installation, infrastructure requirement, commissioning, service and maintenance of LED streetlights, including post-installation maintenance, warranty replacement during the project period to achieve the agreed energy savings.
Preparation of the investment grade energy audit (IGEA) report for energy efficiency in public waterworks, tubewells, sewerage treatment plants and pumping stations will lead to improvement in energy efficiency. The energy audit is one of the key reforms under the AMRUT mission guidelines in order to make STPs and WTPs more energy efficient. The EESL will be responsible for planning, financing, conducting energy audit, monitoring and supervising the project. They will conduct energy audit, prepare IGEA report which will be a prerequisite to identify energy efficiency potential and financial viability for the implementation of the projects.
The EESL will arrive at the number of pump sets, hire energy auditing agency on tendering basis to prepare the report and monitor the progress of work.
