Gurdaspur: The Red Cross De-addiction Center Gurdaspur Project Director Romesh Mahajan has been chosen for the prestigious President’s Award for Social services in the field of drug de-addiction.
The award is to be conferred on June 26 in New Delhi. Talking to Daily Post India, Romesh Mahajan said that only two people had been chosen for their contribution in this field. Mahajan took over as Project Director of the de-addiction center in 2004 and over the years has managed to increase the bed strength from three to the present thirty. He said that over 40,000 youth had been treated in the center so far. Out of these, the Center has helped over 27000 youth to gain self-employment as well.
Romesh Mahajan has decided to donate the entire amount received with the award to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
