Sarna’s classic reply
In Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) poll campaign, rivals made an issue of Paramjit Singh Sarna’s fondness of pearls embedded rings, which they projected as the former DSGMC president’s superstition and belief in Hindusim. While countering the claim of opponents, Sarna told media persons that one of the two rings was gifted to him by his wife on golden jubilee on Wedding anniversary but failed to tell about the another one. Leave aside his words, the irked Sarna’s style was so classic that it made all to giggle: “Je gharwali ne mundri paa ditti kise nagg wali, pyar di nishani keh ke.. Ki karda? Sutt aavan hun es nu?”
Guru Nanak’s sacred robe to be put on display
The sacred robe of Guru Nanak Dev will be displayed for devotees on March 3 during a three day Jaur Mela in connection with Chola Sahib, at Dera Baba Nanak.
It is believed that the sacred robe was brought by Kabli Mall, a trader from Afghanistan and given to his 9th generation (Guru Nanak Dev’s 9th generation). Guru Nanak had spent 17 years, 5 months and 9 days during his last days of his life at Dera Baba Nanak.
His robe had been placed in the Gurdwara and Baba Sukhdev Singh Bedi, his 16th generation is looking after affairs of Gurdwara.
The lakhs of devotee from different parts of the world will be taking part in the Chola Sahib Jaur Mela at Dera Baba Nanak.
Himachal’s professor brings a laurel to the state
Dr Vikas Suman, Assistant Professor, Government Degree College Nerwa-Chopal, in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, has brought laurels to his collage and state, after attending a month long session on Research on Cancer biology studying different aspects of chromosome segregation in human cancer cell lines” in an Institute Life Science Circle VirginiaTech Blacksburg, Virginia, USA.
Dr Vikas was invited by Dr Daniela Cimini working as an Associate professor in Department of Biological Sciences and Biocomplexity, of the institute.
During his stay, he claimed to have learnt various techniques such as immune fluorescence staining of tubulin and kinetochore proteins for analysis of mitotic cell and mitotic cell defects, preparation of chromosome spreads for the analysis of chromosome number alterations and live cell microscopy imaging for the analysis of normal and abnormal cell division timings.
Mock drill conducted before arresting INLD leaders
The swiftness in which Punjab Police took Indian Nationa Lok Dal’s leader Abhey Chautala and his supporters into custody puts everyone into the thinking mode. As Chautala ordered his party cadre to enter Punjab from Shambhu barrier on February 23 for digging SYL canal, the police and political parties in the region were on tenterhooks. However, Punjab Police chief’s initiative in this connection paid off as he had instructed well in advance to cops to conduct the mock drill.
While following the directions of DGP, senior officials conducted mock drill numerous times on the spot. On the other hand not only helicopter was used to have an aerial view related to protestors from across the border but the cops also used drones to collect minute data about the number of workers marching towards Punjab. The drones were operated from the master control room set up at Mughal Sarai adjoining to Shambhu barrier.
Harcharan Bains becomes source of inspiration for former DGP Jails Shashi Kant
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s Adviser on National Affairs Harcharan Bains is a source of inspiration for former DGP Jails Shashi Kant. This fact came to light when Shashi Kant on February 23, posted on his face book wall “ Had an horrible experience in a particular lower court today… .Shocking…” After reading this post Harcharan Bains commented , “ Worrying . What happened, Bhai sahib ? Can I be of any assistance ? For whatever I am worth, please count on me.” Then Shashi Kant replied to Bains post and said, “Sir, you are a source of inspiration”.
Finally cheque for martyr’s kin
They were first made to wait for long to get promised cheque of Rs 50 lakh from Haryana government. Yes, they were martyr’s kin. Finally on Sunday, Dr Pawan Saini, a BJP MLA, handed over cheques for Rs 50 lakh to the bereaved family members of martyr Sepoy Mandeep Singh, who lost his life in an encounter near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir in October, 2016. He handed over cheques for Rs 12.50 lakh each to the martyr’s parents Phool Singh and Nirmala, and for Rs 25 lakh to his wife Prerna. He said that as Prerna was already serving in Haryana Police, formalities were being completed to provide government job to the martyr’s brother Sandeep Singh as announced earlier by Chief Minister Manohar Lal. One hopes that he does not have to wait for media stories to wake up the government from its slumber.
Haryana Speaker Kanwar Pal Gurjar is a man of optimism. Though odds are heavily piled up against the ruling party, feels that things will remain peaceful in the House during Budget Session starting from Monday. Talking to media persons on Sunday he hoped that all members of the House, especially those belonging to the opposition, will be provided maximum time for discussion on Governor’s address and Budget during the present tenure. He said that 17 calling attention notices, two short notice questions, three non-government proposals and four government Bills have so far been received for the upcoming Session.
