It won’t be wrong to say that Taapsee Pannu naturally carries herself as a real shining star of Bollywood. After her standout performance in film Pink, the 28-year-old actress has a made a name for herself. And now she is back with her new film Running Shaadi which is already running in the theatres. On a very candid note Taapsee opened to Daily Life and talks about her past, present and the future.
The Pink Effect
To share a frame with the legendary actor, Amitabh Bachan was more than a dream come true for Taapsee. But she had no idea that her own character in the film will became the mirror for many modern independent women in India.
“The response was great for the film and my character. The one moment that stands out is when a girl came to me and said, ‘Thank You’… I still recall that moment, her eyes were full hope,” says Taapsee, and feels it’s a blessing to be seen that way.
But do you know that Pink only happened for Tapsee after she was seen by Shoojit Sircar on the sets of Running Shaadi.
“The limelight in Bollywood came after Pink, but it was my character in Running Shaadi which is more close to my real life.”
Before coming to Bollywood, Taapsee enjoyed great success in Telgu film industry. She followed a strict code of selecting hard hitting roles.
She opens up about her experience in Bollywood. “I have done more than 20 films in Telugu and Tamil cinema. But in Bollywood, people only see me as a newbie. For them my past work doesn’t matter at all.”
Here she adds that he is not a social climber who would try to fit in with the industry crowd.
Shades of Grey
No matter how strong she may look on- screen but the young actress also goes through her off-days. She talks about her weaknesses and things that slow her down. “I give more than my hundred percent. When I don’t get the desired results, I get snappy and angry. It makes me very incompetent.” After she reveals all this in one go, she starts to laugh and defends herself by saying that the industry has made her more patient.
After completing her shoot, she likes to spend half of the day sleeping. “I am one of those who loves being in the dreamland.”
A travel bug, she loves exploring the lesser known places. She is a beach person, who likes to sit alone to just relish the aura of the moment.
In a very confident tone she talks about her life if she choses to switch her career in future.
“If someday I start to feel that it’s not working out for me, I will pack my bags and leave the country, and start working on something new. I would never let a profession suck my life out,” says Taapsee and signs off.
