Mumbai: A ‘selfie-point’ set up by MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande and which was popular with youngsters has been closed down owing to lack of funds to maintain it.
The photo spot at Shivaji Park in Dadar, where youths gathered to take selfies, was developed by Deshpande in his civic ward when he was leader of his party in BMC.
After a restructuring of wards in the metropolis, this seat was reserved for women. Deshpande fielded his wife from the ward, but she lost the election held on February 21.
Deshpande then decided to close down the selfie-point citing lack of funds to maintain it.
Such selfie-points were set up by city Corporators ahead of the civic polls to connect with voters, especially youngsters. PTI
