Jalandhar: The STF formed by Punjab Govt. is proving its worth. In a major success against ‘Gangs of Punjab’ the task force finished off Gurdeep Singh Bhinda gang almost completely. This was revealed in a press conference on Wednesday by AIG (STF) Harkanwalpreet Singh Khakh at Jalandhar. Seven members of the gang have been arrested with firearms, drugs and cash.
As per the AIG ,the gang was operating in Jalandhar & Kapurthala districts and was an extension of Goru Bachha Gang. These gangs had made a strategy of forming a cluster in such a way that they kept on shifting their positions after every major crime they committed. They sheltered one another so that the police in the particular district wasn’t able to spot them in locations within their jurisdiction. They leveraged the enjoyed the communication gap within the police of different districts to stay out of police net.
Among those arrested are Gurdeep singh @ Bhinda of Nurmahal, Rakesh Kumar @ Keshi of Mehatpur, Jaswant Singh @ Jassa of Lohian, Mandeep Kumar & Kuldip of Kapurthala, Sandeep @ Lala of Phillaur and Mukul of Goraya. 2 pistols, 2 rifles, live cartridges, 1 kirpan, 600 gm of Heroin and Rs. 8 Lakh cash were recovered from their possession .
AIG told media persons that this gang was involved mainly in extortion and land grabbing contracts . Except Mukul all of them are history-sheeters and have 5-10 criminals cases against each of them .Mukul was an ITI Diploma holder and recently came into their fold for quick bucks .”STF will pin point the source of weapons and heroin and we will completely destroy this part of network” Khakh told media persons .
“We have limited their operation through STF which is a linkage between police in various districts .In this operation we combined the police force of Kapurthala & Jalandhar .We arrested four of them in two cars and then another three on their information. The weapons ,heroin and cash was recovered from them on the spot ” Khakh told DP correspondent .
The STF will continue the interrogation of these seven by taking their police remand tomorrow .
