Hails Punjab police for timely action in Malerkotla Sacrilege, rejects announcement to observe July 1 as “black day”
Ludhiana: The Shahi Imam Punjab Maulana Habir Ur Rehman Sani Ludhianvi on Thursday rejected the confrontationist approach in the name of Islam. The Imam has outrightly rejected the announcement to observe July 1 as Black Day as announced by . The Shahi Imam has thus put an end to a controversy that in hindsight appears to be nothing more than a crass attempt by miscreants to raise the religious temperatures.The Majlis Ahrar Islam Hind had earlier made the announcement to observe the Black Day to protest the dishonour of Quran Sharif in Malerkotla.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, Shahi Imam said that Punjab police have arrested the culprits who are involved in the sacrilege incident and hailed the timely action of the police. He said that the act to dishonour the Quran was committed to foment communal trouble in the state.
Shahi Imam also demanded CBI probe to scan the links of culprits with agencies such as ISI of Pakistan. He said that the anti-Indian forces worked with the sole aim of destabilizing the country and such forces ought to be nipped in the bud. The Imam said that politics should not be played on the religious issue and there is no need to show protest by observing “black day” when the culprits were arrested by the police.
