Chandigarh: Municipal Corporation (MC) Chandigarh mulls to share city garbage extract in garbage processing plant to be set up at Mohali. MC Commissioner, Baldeo Purushratha during the deliberations made on improving upon the garbage dumping ground problem during the special budget house meet on Thursday proposed for seeking the participation with Mohali MC.
Mohali MC is planning to set up Solid waste Management Plant in which the garbage collected from six different cities across the Punjab state will be brought in and processed.
Purushrtah said, “We have urged our desire for contribution of garbage in the Solid waste Management Plant being set by at Mohali. We have also written a letter to Mohali Administration proposing to adjust the garbage collected from Chandigarh to be processed at the
He said that this way UT-MC will not just get rid of the garbage but also will part with management of the garbage processing plant.
Purushartha said that the second possibility to manage the garbage generated from city is that MC writes to government of India to draft a plant of Integrated Garbage Disposal Scheme which MC inculcates to get rid of garbage generated in city. Under this scheme the project is likely to be funded by centre.
The third aspect is to advertise to invite interested companies to run the existing garbage processing plant on as it is where it is basis. It must be mentioned here that Mayor Arun Sood also had invited the interested companies to take the operations of the existing garbage processing plant but to no avail.
