Mohali: Women had emerged stronger in every field and the Shiromani Akali Dal would give preference to women candidates during ticket distribution for the forthcoming Assembly elections. This was stated here by Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal while interacting with media persons in Zirakpur on Thursday.
Badal said that the Akali party would take care that women get their due in the elections. The Union minister was in Zirakpur to participate in a Conference dedicated to Goddess Ganga.
Harsimrat said that the Akali Government had initiated a number of schemes for the welfare of women in Punjab. These included free education, distribution of bicycles and other schemes.
She said that the Union Government would soon roll out a cold storage scheme for Punjab and she personally wanted that a chain of cold stores was established in the state. The Union Government would subsidize the cold store facility, she said. Badal added that the food parks being built up in Ladhowal and Kapurthala would soon be commissioned.
Harsimrat said that the NDA government at the Center had been trying its best to come up to the expectations of the people. Right from presenting a pro-farmer budget to controlling inflation, the government has been taking measures to ensure the welfare of the people, she said.
