Chandigarh: Soon after the announcement of the list of 19 candidates of Aam Aadmi Party, news about your resignation spread like wild fire, are you still annoyed with the decision of the party?
Yes, there are few things which are annoying me but these are small issues, which take place in every family. I have already disclosed that I would talk to our party leader in this regard. Whatever decision Arvind Kejriwal takes, I will accept that.
Your differences with the party cadre were on the selection of candidates, is it a small issue?
Well, it is a big thing, but I have no personal issues with the distribution of the tickets to candidates, it is workers’ voice. I am of the strong opinion that workers’ voice in the party must be accepted in any case.
Who is the person whose candidature is disturbing you?
Being the state convener, I can’t make it public. Having political understanding, I know it well that if I speak about a particular seat and the candidate is still not replaced, his image will get tarnished that would harm the party too, so I have decided not to expose it.
Do you seriously want that particular candidate to be replaced?
Yes, in any case I want him/her to be replaced. I will take this matter to the party president and will apprise him of the persons who have worked seriously in that particular constituency with a mention that they should not be ignored. There is resentment among the workers that some of those got the tickets are relatively freshers and have toiled much lesser than the ignored lot.
Your party has always claimed to be different from other parties on the ground that workers here don’t strive for the tickets, but isn’t it exposing that you all are going away from claims?
Well this world is a double-edged sword and we have always run the party on the ethics on which this party was formed. We have always followed an agenda that no corrupt, characterless, land grabber or police tout will be promoted in the party. People who are working hard at the ground level and have been working since the party came into existence, deserve to be given priority over others. Now, when I raise my voice it is purely based on this ideology which we have always followed and I want my party to follow.
Keeping high respects for the party ethics, can you name any of those 19 in the category of undeserving ones?
There are five-six persons in that list but I can’t name them on this platform. I stand by my words that against some new entrants the old and committed lot has been neglected in some segments. Being nothing wrong in it, I raised their voice and it was my duty otherwise also to do so? Being the state convener, I also realise that if party fails to perform well I will be asked. See, my point is very much clear that today a few might get annoyed with my decisions but it will ensure good results.
Are you sure that the party president will listen to you on this?
Yes, I am sure about it.
