Patiala: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Hindustan Vidyarthi Sena (student’s wing of the Shiv Sena Hindustan headed by Pawan Gupta) are largely involved in violating the Punjab Prevention of defacement of Property Act as both these political outfits are on defacement of public property spree in view of the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.
Even as the defacement of the public properties by these political parties are continuing unabated, on the other hand, the district administration has turned a blind eye over the development as no action has been taken against the violators so far.
The violators have not taken any type of prior permission from any quarter and are on the spree of defacing public property in the whole of the district.
In urban areas of Patiala city, the violation is going on without any break and it has also not spared walls of even official residences of some of the top officials of the judiciary too. Besides, the outer walls of the Judicial Complex were not spared and painted with “Kejriwal Kejriwal, Punjab Sara Terai Naal” slogans and all such wall paintings were also numbered by the painters.
When contacted, AAP candidate from Patiala Urban assembly seat Dr Balbir Singh outrightly tried to turn down the question by saying that no such violation has been done by the party. When he was told by mentioning the areas, he accepted that it might be the mistake of the persons awarded the contract to conduct this exercise and he will be able to say something after visiting the sites personally.
He also assured that in the case of such mistakes, the party will get these walls repainted and try to restore their previous look as well.
The Hindustan Vidyarthi Sena came forward with it’s posters and these were found pasted over the walls of the Government ITI (Boys) near Majithia enclave side and thus ruining the walls. Here too, nobody had taken permission and blatantly defaced the public property. In Ghanour assembly segment area, the party candidate also broke records and defaced public property at a large scale. Most of the walls of the government buildings were defaced. When the matter was brought to the notice of the Block Panchayat Secretary Vineet Sharma, he said that the matter was already brought in his notice by some persons and in view of the instructions of the state election commission, the staff has been entrusted to locate all such spots so that the issue be taken up with the concerned political parties. He said that in future nobody will be allowed to be involved in such a spree.
